The La Robla Express Tourist Train offers a unique way to experience the landscapes, history and spiritual atmosphere associated with the Camino de Santiago, combining the romance of classic rail travel with modern comfort at an accessible level of luxury.
Introduced in 2009, La Robla Express blends mid-20th-century railway heritage with contemporary amenities. The train is built from restored BB series passenger carriages, evoking the golden age of travel while providing all the comforts expected by today’s international travellers.
Named after the historic railway line that once connected Bilbao with the former mining town of La Robla in León, this journey unfolds like a “cruise on rails”, passing through green valleys, traditional villages and timeless landscapes that have inspired pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela for centuries.
Travelling aboard La Robla Express is an ideal option for those who wish to connect with the spirit of the Camino—its cultural richness, slow rhythm and sense of reflection—without undertaking the physical demands of walking the route.
The La Robla Express Train features a classic and welcoming interior design, offering a relaxed and comfortable environment that invites rest and contemplation—perfect for a journey inspired by the pilgrimage tradition.
The train includes four sleeping carriages, each with seven private compartments, designed to maximize comfort and functionality.
Standard Compartments, each Standard Compartment is equipped with: bunk beds (two per compartment), wardrobe and reading lights. Individually controlled air conditioning, piped music, public address system and onboard telephone, 220V electrical outlets.
Every compartment includes a private en-suite bathroom with hydro-massage shower, washbasin, toilet and hairdryer—an exceptional level of comfort for a train of this category.

The social heart of the train lies in its three Common Saloon carriages, comprising a bar car, restaurant car and lounge car. These elegant spaces feature large panoramic windows, allowing guests to fully appreciate the ever-changing scenery of northern Spain.
Guests can enjoy: permanent bar service, relaxed dining and social areas, quiet moments for reading or reflection, inspired by the contemplative nature of the Camino.
To enhance the onboard experience, travellers have access to daily newspapers, magazines, a library, video library and television, as well as PCs and free Wi-Fi, ensuring both connection and relaxation throughout the journey.
All carriages are fully air-conditioned, open 24 hours a day, and internally connected, allowing passengers to move freely and comfortably at any time.
